KPLU's 24-hour
jazz web stream (www.jazz24.org)
is one of the most listened-to streams on the Internet, with a half-million
listeners per month. www.Jazz24.org is where listeners can stream
the same great world-class jazz known and appreciated the world over,
and enjoy a brand-new website that's all about the music, providing
global exposure and enjoyment of "America's classical music".
KPLU broadcasts
from two facilities: on the campus of Pacific Lutheran University
in Tacoma, to which it is licensed; and KPLU's Northwest News Center
in Seattle. KPLU is part of the Northwest News Network , which provides
public radio news coverage from areas throughout Washington, Oregon,
and Idaho.
KPLU continually
demonstrates its leadership in technology and service to the community.
The station was the first public radio station in the Seattle/Tacoma
market to offer podcasting. KPLU broadcasts on two HD channels:
its jazz, blues and news simulcast is on HD1, and KPLU's all-jazz
service, Jazz24, can be heard on HD2.
KPLU's
mission
To inform, entertain, and educate the public: to increase knowledge
of the world, appreciation of the arts, and understanding of the
human condition.
